Joan is an RYT500 yoga instructor who has been leading movement education classes in various forms for over 30 years. Introduced to yoga as a teenager, she came back to yoga as a regular practice 10 years ago, while searching for some peace during a stressful family crisis. She knew immediately that she had found a permanent home in yoga practice and philosophy. Experiencing the life changing benefits of yoga, both on and off the mat, drew her to the Atma Bodha Yoga School where she completed her 200- hour and 300-hour teacher trainings. She is also certified in Chair Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Accessible Yoga, and has further training in Yin Yoga, Meditation, Yoga for Eating Disorders and Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

Joan believes that the ancient practices of yoga move us toward wholeness, peace, acceptance, and compassion in our everyday lives. She is passionate about leading yoga in a way that allows us to become aware of the connection between our body, mind and spirit. In addition to her yoga training, Joan holds a BS in Dance Education, an MS in Exercise Science, and is a Certified Personal trainer. She is thrilled to be joining the Collective Yoga team!
